Welcome Back!!!

Hey Friends! Hey!

It has been a while since I last shared a post in this space, and so much life has unfolded in the meantime. I have gain new friends and followers, lost some people I love dearly, disposed of relationships that did not serve me well, and simply have experienced the highs and lows life brings us while yet still standing. I am still defiant as ever against anything that does not bring value to my life, time, and space. Stepping away gave me the room I needed to grow, reflect, and build new platforms. All of it has been rooted in the same mission I started here almost 12 years ago helping us understand our worth, find our voice, and live out our God-given purpose. Can you believe it?

What have I been up to?

During this transition, I have had the privilege of interviewing amazing individuals, leading workshops, writing new books, and expanding my work in consulting and speaking. I am working on some really great things to come. Nevertheless, through it all, one thing has remained constant, my passion for authentic conversations that remind us we are not alone in our struggles or our victories.

What’s next?

Today marks a new beginning. I am reopening this space not just as a blog but as a dialogue. You can expect posts that combine inspiration with honesty about identity, resilience, faith, leadership, self-image, and the everyday lessons that shape who we are and constantly encourages us to never stop growing.

Thank you and Welcome!!

If you have been here since the beginning, thank you for staying connected. If you are new, welcome to the community. My hope is that these words will encourage you to reflect, heal, and step boldly into your own story.

Would you please…

Tell me your story in the comments. Where are you now? Do you need a fresh start? Have you begun your new beginning? Where has your journey taken you? Where would you like to be three months, six months, one year from now? Let me know how I can support you! Please share on your social media platforms. Invite your followers, family, and friends to join us in this space. I look forward to our engagement!

Let’s do this together!

Here’s to new seasons and fresh voices. I am so glad you are here with me.

Blessings and Inspiration🌸,

quote-oprah-this-year-living-my-dreams-www-veooz-com1   Last year I was going through several ups and downs.  I was working on a new program on my day job with several obstacles (folk) in my way.

1375385031_DontGiveUpTheHardWorkPaysOff

Fast forward to today, the experience I gained from working that new program is what qualified me for my current position.  Halleluiah!!!! While I didn’t see it at the time, God was preparing me for future blessings of which I now enjoy.  I would not have imagined myself in this place or space a year ago.  This is far greater than my previous expectations and prayers.

Goals-and-Expectations-

Have you ever worked so hard for something that appeared to be unobtainable?  I endured sabotage, backstabbing, and a whole host of other issues on my job which was a bit stressful to say the least.  I had gone through a very dark moment where I felt like I was the hamster in the spinning wheel just going in circles never to reach a destination.  BUT GOD!!!!!  Those that are closest to me were very encouraging.  I had to pray really hard to stay sane.

Now I sit looking BACK and REFLECT on that time and situation now knowing that God had a plan for me all along.  I had many moments when I just wanted to cry feeling so defeated and abandoned.  BUT GOD!!!

abe9f8927b3752900c8f92655f381306

I say to all of you that are currently going through your own situation feeling like there is no end, God has already worked it out!  You just have to go through your season to learn and grow.

fccd141261ac2dd92bf5293a3968f9e8

Just know that there is an end and you will look back on this moment at some point and say BUT GOD!!!!  Going through is exactly just that, going through.  That means you are not taking residence in your sorrow, misery or pain.  Payday is coming after while!!!!

I want to thank you for reading my posts and I pray to continue to inspire and encourage you just as you have inspired and encouraged me.

The Power To Let It Go Part 2

Now, let’s deal with the emotional/mental:

How many of you are being held hostage to the past or are just stuck in unhealthy relationships that serve no value but instead contribute greatly to your misery? How many relationships do you have that you are afraid to just let go?

We have to be the owners of our own heart and not give it away so easily to where it is unrecognizable when we get it back if we ever get it back. Sometimes it may be those close to us like a mother, father, sister, brother, aunt, uncle, cousin…or maybe it’s a best friend, boyfriend or girlfriend. Some are even on their second, third, fourth, etc. marriages that give away a piece of themselves with each relationship constantly looking for love and validation in others.

The bottom line is that you get to decide the value of your heart and your own worth. Letting go does not always mean these people cannot be a part of your life. What it does mean is that you have to relinquish their power over your happiness and take control of your own destiny relying solely and completely on the Lord for guidance and direction. I know what heartbreak feels like to be rejected, lied to, cheated on etc. It doesn’t feel good at all. It brings you to a place of feeling like there is no recovery. In the mean time, the heart-holder appears to be going on with their lives not giving you a second thought. You allow yourself to be consumed with why other people do to you WHAT YOU ALLOW!

So, once you collect yourself and realize that you are worth more than what you rent yourself out for regardless of the relationship type, you must then LET IT GO! You have more power than what you exercise over your heart, your life and your surroundings.

So I say to you this day, LET IT GO!!! Take control, pray and do a lot of soul searching for what should be important in your life and the rest of that mess, just LET IT GO! “You can do it!”, is not just a cliche’ but it is a command that I will change to say, You must do it! So get’er done!!!!

Blessings and Inspiration,

How many of us are in situations that we should have said goodbye to long ago?  Is it a job, relationship, hometown or school?  Sometimes it could just be as simple as a mindset or mentality of defeat, negativity, pessimism, depression or despair.

Let’s start with the physical:

The physical pertains to places and things.  Sometimes we find ourselves attached to places such as a childhood home, a job that has become a comfort zone although it lacks fulfillment, or enrolled in a school to which you have difficulty progressing.

You don’t want to move away from home because, well, it’s home and it’s safe or you don’t have much responsibility.  You don’t want to leave your job because it’s a steady paycheck or maybe you don’t think you can do any better or you just don’t think you’re smart enough.  Maybe you’re a student at a school that your family wants you to attend but you feel out of place or maybe you have been taking non-challenging courses just to say you’re in school.

At what point do you take stock of your life and make the adult decision that it is just time to LET IT GO!!!  We should always find ways to keep everything in our lives afresh and new.  It doesn’t mean that all things require a grand make over or should get the boot, but we should always look for ways to make our lives better or try to improve our surroundings.

So get out of mama and daddy’s house or some other relative or friend’s home and make a life for yourself as an independent and mature adult.  It is just time to take complete control over your life and start making things happen. You have no more room for excuses by allowing life to just pass you by due to fear or irresponsibility.

It is just time to find employment that is fulfilling, stimulating and rewarding.  Even if you stay at the same job, find ways to challenge yourself by either taking a course or learning something new.  Just do something!!  As for school, get to a place where you are comfortable and that will help propel you forward.  If that school is not your choice and your parents are paying for it, at least find a major or course of study where you know you will excel.  Stop  letting folk talk you into the life they never had or think you should have.  Never allow someone to control your life to the point of unhappiness.  It is selfish of someone to put that type of pressure on you and you are cheating yourself to allow it.  That does not mean sit around and do nothing, what it does mean is that if something isn’t working find out what does and just do it!!

Part 2 continued on the next post covering the mental/emotional….

The Psychology Of Customer Service!

Anyone that knows me really well know that bad customer service is a huge pet peeve of mine.  It breaks my heart every time I roll into a drive thru and see our babies without any type of work ethic and could care less about providing good customer service.  If they get your order wrong and you send it back for a replacement, you better say an extra prayer over your food.

There have been a few that have surprised me and have taken their job seriously and delivered top notch service.  However, what’s unfortunate is the greater percentage that I have experienced and others alike is the tragedy of a generation of kids with no actionable skills to progress them further in their career or life in general.

What most may not realize is that the main component of customer service is psychology!  Yep, plain old psychology.  Psychology is defined as “the scientific study of the human mind and its functions, especially those affecting behavior in a given context.”  Now think about this for a minute.  You have two main points in this definition, the human mind and affected behavior.  To get to the point, customer service basically boils down to how you make someone feel about something.

Have you noticed that Walmart’s employee’s do not wear those smocks any more that says, “How May I Help You?”  Raise your hand if you receive great customer service here all the time?  Okay, moving on……

When you go into a store, restaurant, hotel, car dealership, etc., at the end of the day, it’s all about how that business or service made you feel.  The service can be superior, mediocre or just outright bad, but it’s all about how they made you feel that determines whether you will give them your service again or at all.

The main point of this post is to drive home to those of us who are either in the business of servicing others in some type of capacity whether it is for work, church, volunteering, etc., you are in charge of your customer’s experience.  You get to be a significant part of the determination on whether that person will come back again.

What is Bad Customer Service Costing Your Business?

Take the time to not only provide superior customer service, but also demand it.  This is the only way it will get better.

Please encourage your teenagers who are working part time jobs for the first time to care about what they do on their jobs.  It doesn’t matter if they are working fast food, custodian, bank teller, or interning at a law firm, teach them work ethic and how to take pride in doing the best and being the best. Some people actually got their biggest breaks at young ages where someone took them under their wing because of potential they saw in them at an early age working at some place like McDonalds and set them up for a great future.

To my entrepreneurs or future entrepreneurs, pay special attention to who you hire and how you want to brand your business.

Remember that the human mind and affected behavior all boils down to basic psychology and the experience that is provided.  It can truly make or break your business.

Blessings and Inspiration,

Not Happy With Your Work Environment — Change It!!!

toxic1-images1    How many of us have had or are experiencing a work environment that is either unpleasant or unfulfilling?

Businesswoman in cubicle with laptop and stacks of files

I have most certainly been there.  I had an epiphany one day and realized that I was in complete control of my own environment.  I had more control than what I previously realized.  I am sure you’re probably thinking, well I can’t change my crazy mean boss or my messy overambitious co-workers.  I can’t make my boss give me a promotion or a raise.  Well, I say to you that those things may very well be true.  However, you are in complete control of YOU!!  It is a natural reaction to get down on someone else’s level when you are offended, hurt, let down, overlooked, etc.  How about making them come up to your level because you refuse to come down to theirs.  That comes with a level of confidence and faith that you demand better and expect better.

Happy Co-worker

At what point do you take the initiative to change your situation.  Now, I must warn you, it will call for some sacrifice and maybe even a bit of discomfort, but the payoff is far more rewarding than anything you would have to endure to get you there.

Here are some options:

  • Start with changing your “stank” attitude, it’s counterproductive.  Find one thing to be happy about and ride that wave until it’s time to clock out…even if it’s just to be thankful for having a job.

Ghandi

  • Be of the mindset that your situation is temporary and you’re only passing through.
  • Never allow anyone to change who you are by doing the “tit-for-a-tat” or becoming something you’re not.
  • Understand your rights and entitlements on your job as well as available opportunities.  That just may be your “in” to making a change in your job situation.  Maybe there’s tuition assistance to take some classes.  There may be an opening in another department where you can transfer or you may be entitled to additional training and resources.
  • Do your research!!!  When all else fails look for free webinars, on-line tutorials, free classes at your local library.
  • Look to cross-train or outside opportunities to learn something new.  There may even be a vacancy that needs someone temporarily until filled.  You could also volunteer to take on other responsibilities.
  • Help someone else do better and be better.  It does wonders to be able to offer something useful and meaningful to someone else.  It also helps you to exercise your leadership skills by imparting your knowledge or wisdom to help others.
  • Believe your way into a better situation.

Tired

  • Refuse to settle for the here and now when you have greater aspirations.  A dream only becomes a reality when you WAKE UP!!!!!

So WAKE UP!!  Your new life awaits you!!!! Ghandi

Permission To Heal

#divine purpose, #Healing, #JesuslovesyouandsodoI, #Letitgo, #loveyourself, #PermissionToHeal

Have you ever had your heart broken into tiny little pieces to the point of feeling like there is just no repair possible?

Have you lost a loved one such as a spouse, best friend, child, sibling, close relative or maybe even a mentor?

Have you been fired or let go from a job or found yourself in a humiliating and embarrassing situation to where you just want to hide your face in the sand?

Have you experienced infidelity in your marriage/relationship or you were the one who did the cheating and feel like there is no recovery?

Have you been down the road of not wanting to live any more because of your heartache or a feeling of worthlessness?  Are you there now?

The one constant in those situations is always the permission to hurt, cry, feel bad and just be depressed.  This is most certainly part of the healing process.

I remember going through some really tough times where I felt rejected, unloved, unworthy and unwanted.  The crazy thing is that none of those things were true.  I also realized that is was easier to believe those negative things because they gave me the permission to feel sorry for myself for as long as I wanted to with no end.  The more time I spent alone, the more I fed my mind with all of the negative things my brain cells could hold.  I also went through that, “God where are you?” phase as well.  I was in a state of depression for quite sometime.  If I thought positive that would take away my right to sulk, pout and cry.  If I thought positive, I would be responsible for picking myself up and moving on with life which I just wasn’t ready to do.  BUT, God’s love never ceases and never fails. I’m a living witness!

After a while I began to realize that I was just wasting precious time dwelling on what could not be changed.  I then literally looked in the mirror and decided to put an expiration date on my pain.  I set a month, day and time so that I would hold myself accountable to give up the pain.  That was the best decision I ever made in my life.  What that did was to force me to choose between pain and happiness, both of which were completely in my control.

We often put our happiness and peace of mind in the hands of others not realizing that no matter how loving, dedicated and trustworthy these people are, they all have the ability to hurt us or leave us whether through break-ups, death, or even things unbeknownst to them.  Generally speaking, people are just that, people who do people like things, some good, some bad, some in their control and some not.  But now it is time to take back your rights to happiness by giving your pain an expiration date.

Giving up the pain does not mean giving up the memories.  What it does mean is that you are forced to make a decision on how to process and deal with your pain in a more positive and beneficial way.  People often say things like forgive and forget.  I understand what that means, but do we really forget?  Of course not, but what we can do is NOT waddle in that pain.

If you choose to forgive then forgive and move on, learn and grow.

If you experience the loss of a loved one, choose to remember the best memories possible to counter that empty feeling of loss or the tragedy of their demise.  If it is a breakup, choose to look at the lessons learned to prevent repeat offenses.  You can also look at a break-up as a blessing.  I know I wouldn’t trade my husband for anyone or anybody.  The break-ups I experienced regardless of the pain were the biggest blessings of loss I could imagine.  Without those break-ups, I wouldn’t have my husband who helped me to create four beautifully talented and God-fearing children.

When you choose pain over happiness, this can affect your entire life such as your job, home and basic well being.  Ask yourself, is it really worth it?

No matter what you have been through or currently going through right now, I, this day give you the permission to HEAL.

Therefore, you must now come up with your own realistic expiration date.  What this means is that you will have a celebration of choosing happiness over grief for that which is beyond your control.  You will then give God back control over the joy he so intended you to experience all along.  You no longer have the permission to feel sorry for yourself, live with regrets or bask in a swell of grief that no longer has a place in your life other than to delay the blessings God has in store.

I dare you to try it!!!  It works! Now go in peace and LIVE by divine intention!!!!!!

Blessings and Inspiration,
